Man. I quit mobil a week ago, and I barely had time to blink and here it is, next week today. My english paper is due soon, but don't worry I'm prepared. It's a five page paper on any chosen short story. I chose to do mine on "brownies", by Z.Z. Packer, and I love the story to death. It's fun though, this is the part of english class I can really get into; dissecting stories, looking for various symbolism and language uses and how the author really constructs the story. I think I have a slight advantage in the class, seeing as that's how I read all stories, being a want-to-be-nominally-talented-constructor-of-words myself. Anyways, the paper's coming a long quite well, and the story is a grand one. You should check it out if you have time. I think it's collected in her main book of short stories. I was going to get that book, but then I quit my job, so money isn't available.
Last week, while I was buying Katie some kind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs, I also bought a Dead Kennedys live cd, recorded in LA in 1979. It's good and a lot of fun. The highlight of the disc is on the very first track. The announcer of the show tells everyone that they're being recorded and to make a lot of noise and make a circle pit. Immediately after, Jello starts yelling "dance you lemmings, dance!", and you know how I enjoy a good cup of sarcasm.
"We all find this....rampant individuality...quite disturbing"
Do you remember the comic books, cartoon series and live action series of The Tick? Well I do. I have all the comics and the live action series on DVD. I just got the cartoon series, all 36 episodes, bootlegged on DVD from Ebay. I'm on the 4th episode right now, it's fantastic. I'm reliving 9th grade all over again, but in a not-getting-hit-with-blunt-objects sort of way. It's funny as hell, plain and simple.
