Another story that I remembered from my high school football days. It would be my last play of practice ever. We had a guy on our team named Big Nick, who played offensive tackle. Big Nick was called such because as a senior in high school, he was 6'5" and over 300 pounds. He had signed to play at the University of North Carolina earlier that year. He was one of the best players on the team because in addition to his huge size, he worked as hard as any other guy at getting stronger and better. The last play of practice I was on the scout defense as a linebacker and he was on first-team offense as the offensive tackle. The play was a run, and he came at me with a full head of steam. I had been caught backpedaling and wasn't in position to anchor down. So next thing I knew, I was flying through the air. I landed hard on my ass. I was pissed at first because I didn't want to end practice that way, let alone my senior year of football. But in hindsight it makes for a pretty funny story. So I guess it worked out alright.

6'5 and 300 pounds! If you had anchored would it have made any difference?

I probably would still have gotten blown up, but more than likely I wouldn't have gone airborne @pipercadence
