This is my first playlist blog, but I thought the idea was really fun and I enjoy the challenge of trying to narrow down to my top 5 favorite songs of all time.
5. Wisteria - Hands like Houses
I have yet to come across another song that can pull off the feat that this song did, which is to be both melancholy and upbeat at the same time. Just an ingenious song from the boys from the land down under. One of my favorite songs ever to sing to in the car by myself.
4. Lose Yourself - Eminem
I'm not typically a huge rap fan, but I do love the occasional Eminem song. It just makes you bob your head and groove to the beat, and the lyrics give a sense of purpose and drive that you just can't get from anyone else.
3. Master of Puppets - Metallica
Obey your master. MASTER!!!
2. Stranger Things - Periphery
This song is the last song in the Juggernaut double album storyline, and it is appropriately epic. Talking of themes of resurrection, damnation, and rebirth, the music mirrors the lyrics from majestic and soaring to bombastic and dark. Just a goddamn brilliant piece of writing musically, and Spencer's vocals on this song are unbelievably good, both clean and distorted.
1. The River - Parkway Drive
This song evokes emotions in me I didn't know I had. This song is the best example of mixing the tender beautiful music with the heavy, driving metal side. The two sides complement each other and make you feel each side more. Winston's vocals manage to convey the grief and rage of loss, while still being tender, all while screaming his head off. I'd want this song played at my funeral.
