Hello all.
This weekend was fun. A couple of my friends from Virginia came up along with one of their brothers and we all went to Lancaster, PA for what we call our "nerd convention".
We had a fun time playing games and being dorks, despite some tempers flaring on miscommunications, but all is well. (my one buddy and I are way too competetive sometimes) It was a good time despite the rain and the high winds which knocked power out for most of Saturday.
On Saturday we all decided to wear our jerseys:
For those that don't know we had Cthulhu hockey jerseys custom made for us. The most fun we had with this was screwing with the people who didn't recognize what they were. We had roles for all four of us, Ryan was the young prodigy just out of high school, Mike was the team captain, Beale was the big Russian enforcer, and I was the quiet but hot-tempered goalie. Conversations were a little something like this:
Random Person(RP): "Hey, are you guys a team or something?"
Mike: "Yup"
RP: "What sport you guys play?"
Ryan: "We're on a hockey team."
RP: "Oh cool, where you from?"
Mike: "We're a single-A team affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets based out of Eerie, PA"
RP: "No shit! What brings you guys here?"
Beale: (in a Russian accent) "We have game in Hersey"
Mike: "Yeah, we heard this was a nice place and decided to check it out before the game"
RP: "Oh cool, how are you guys doing this year?"
Mike: "Doing good, as long as this guy keeps the puck out of the net" -he looks over at me, I give him the stink eye-
RP: "Awesome, well I hope you enjoy your stay and good luck!"
We had 4-5 conversations like that and slight variations depending on what people asked and by Saturday night we were hearing rumors that "some kinda pro hockey team's in town!!" That was fun, although we were disappointed that no one recognized us "out of uniform" on Sunday.
Overall it was a good weekend despite lack of sleep, and everyone got home safe and sound.
Then today I find out my uncle (who happens to be my father's twin brother) just had a heart attack. I don't know the details on how bad it was yet. But this sucks...
Thank you to anyone who listened.
