I hope each and every one of you has a very happy Valentine's Day. You will have to pardon me if I am not with you in your revelry today. There will come a day when I can join in your greeting card and chocolate candy-induced rapture. This is just not that day. You will not find me raining on your parade and whining about it. I believe in love as much today as I ever have. Love is out there and I have known it. Love is the warm blanket that I have wrapped myself in on so many days of my life. I will bring this to a close before it turns into something else and end it with some thoughts on love that always strike a chord with me. I find solace in these words. I am merely fanning a glowing ember, dim and slow burning, remembering the fire of love. Happy Valentine's Day to you all...
Love is like a friendship caught on fire.
In the beginning a flame, very pretty,
Often hot and fierce,
But still only light and flickering.
As love grows older,
Our hearts mature
And our love becomes as coals,
Deep-burning and unquenchable. -Bruce Lee
When you depart from me sorrow abides, and happiness takes his
leave. -W.S.
They do not love that do not show their love.
The course of true love never did run smooth.
Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love. -W.S.
Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love. -William Shakespeare (W.S.)
...Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or Bends with the remover to remove.
O, no! It is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. -W.S.
Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs,
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes,
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet. -W.S.
Other men said they have seen angels,
But I have seen thee
And thou art enough. ~ G. Moore
I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion -
I have shudder'd at it.
I shudder no more.
I could be martyr'd for my religion
Love is my religion
And I could die for that.
I could die for you. ~John Keats
To love a person is to learn the song
That is in their heart,
And to sing it to them
When they have forgotten. ~Anonymous
A part of you has grown in me.
And so you see, it's you and me
Together forever and never apart,
Maybe in distance, but never in heart. ~Anonymous
