had a wonderful week of vacation out in colorado. our annual family trip took us to colorado springs for four nights and it was really beautiful. the house we rented this year was very pretty, and easily accomadated all 15 people. there were however interesting aspects about the home, and the people who owned it ...
first off the master bedroom/bathroom was huge. like, literally larger than my condo huge. the bathroom had a huge tub, which could easily fit four people, a toilet room, a urinal room, a shower, and four sinks. on the same floor there was a huge office (with framed photos of GW Bush, yuck), and a library across. two more bedrooms finished this floor. on one end there was a spiral staircase that led to a hot tub/bar room with lots of windows and a deck.
Main floor had a huge, but outdated kitchen, a dining room table for25, and another HUGE office. A fancey living room and a comfortable living room.
The basement had another bedroom/bathroom combo, and then this . . . an actual office. not a home office, but the type of office layout you'd find in a high rise, with a bed, which is where i slept. this space was complete with conference table, three cubicles, a projection room, kitchenette, maps on the wall of isreal and india, and shelves upon shelves of books and videos with titles like "Combating the Gay Agenda" "Gay Politics in Colorado" "AIDS: What You Haven't been Told" and "Talking to Jews about the Teachings of Christ". it was . . . a bit fucked. There were also posters, making that the owner of the home was the president of some christian foundation that supports the jewish settelment of isreal. as in, they want all jews to go to isreal. they belong to that sect of christianity that believes the messiah will return when all jews return to zion. besides all this creepy stuff, the house was great.
Dad, Me, Sister, Niece, Brother in Law at the top of Pike's Peak
cooking dinner for the fam and putting my mom and aunt to work. I make the pasta/marinara/garlic bread meal every year, they love it. Since we were in colorado, and my favorite peaches are grown there, i also made a grilled peach salad with candied pecans, red onion, grape tomato, arugula, basil, spring greens, and grilled peach vin. it was real good.
We toured the Air Force Acadamy, which was pretty cool. Hiked around Garden of the Gods, did some farmer's markets, an evening art gallery tour, watched the olympics as a family, and i drank beer. lots of beer.
The fam then departed and I stayed around for three more days in Denver with my friends Drew and Maggie. Their twins are now 1.5 year old little powerhouses and it was fun spending time with all them. Also got to see some vail friends that are in denver now, and even my old roommate Shannon, and her dog Luna, who was our house dog and I loved like my own.
