My friend Joaquin put me on the guest list to see Cardboard Vampyres, Jerry Cantrell's new band. While backstage, I opened the bathroom door and saw him taking a shit.
I also got to see Social D twice. Well, Social D once and then Mike Ness playing acoustic stuff the next day. The show at the Warfield was amazing. Even though they didn't run around the stage doing stupid little jumps with crazy pyrotechnics and weird light shows, there was still this energy they were exuding. A contagious energy that filled the room and drove everyone wild. I hope one day I can be in a band that does that.
While at work the day after the show, I told my boss about the Social D Studio Sessions thing at the Metreon. He let me watch while I was still on the clock, and in return, I handed out some cards and free t-shirts after the show. When I got to the show, I realized you had to win tickets. I called him and told him, and he says "Oh, well I know someone at Live 105. I'll get you in." Sure enough, he calls back and gets me in. He only played about 5 songs, but there was also a Q&A session too, so it lasted about a half hour.
Though they pay me nothing, I fucking love my job.
