Gah, I'm so stressed. So here's the story:

Saturday night was Erin's birthday party. She lives in a converted warehouse in West Oakland. In the warehouse are two different rooms where you can have events. Saturday night in the downstairs room, Erin was throwing her party. In the upstairs room there was some wedding reception. Around midnight, some dude from the upstairs party (we'll call him Drunk Idiot) came down and had been harassing some of the girls. One of the girls asked him to leave, but he wouldn't. So this guy, we'll call him Bob, told him that she asked him to leave, so he needs to leave. He won't leave and starts arguing with him, saying he was gonna kick Bob's ass and blah blah blah. Erin comes over to break up the fight, and Drunk Idiot pushes Erin and says he's gonna kick Bob's ass. Bob punches the guy, and then a bunch of people run over to stop the fight. A few guys are trying to hold Drunk Idiot back to stop the fight, and Bob tries to walk away. Drunk Idiot's girlfriend (remember Drunk Idiot was harassing girls?) is trying to hold him back, and he shoves her. The guys then knock him down on the ground and hold him down, telling him to stop. He's down for a little while, and everyone thinks it's over. He gets up and then tries to start a fight with Bob again. His girlfriend is trying to stop him and he keeps shoving her. A few of the guys are yelling at him and the Drunk Idiot once again pushes his girlfriend out of the way, but this time he did it so hard that she fell face first into the asphalt, chipped two of her front teeth and cut her face. As soon as that happened, the guys charged him. As soon as he was on the ground, it was pretty much over. The dude was bleeding from the back of the head so bad that someone called an ambulance and the police. The next day we find out Drunk Idiot is in the hospital with a broken jaw, a broken collar bone, a fractured rib, and needed stitches for the cut in the back of his head. When he got out of the hospital, he was supposed to go to jail for domestic abuse charges, but I just found out a half hour ago that the DA dropped the charges without talking to anyone on our side and told the Drunk Idiot that he might have a case if he wanted to press charges. He now has a lawyer and we're freaking out. Oh, and the girlfriend lied in her statement to the police, saying he only pushed her once and he wasn't looking and didn't know it was her. She also said bullshit like no one helped her when she fell, even though a few people ran over and helped her inside and up the stairs. We're afraid one or more of our friends is going to get in trouble. Is anyone here a lawyer? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
