I have been on the computer for almost 8 hours, editing, copying and backing up my entire computer. I can literally smell it burning. Scary.
All of these pictures are from the past 3 days.
My fav. so far was actually inspired by the weekly display in the photography group. The theme this week was feet.

Anybody get the Vonnegut reference?
They are building these ridiculously large houses down the road from the Farm. It sukks, civilization is creeping into my neck of the woods, more traffic, more pollution, more angry soccer moms in their SUV's with screaming kids. No land is sacred anymore, how much further do I have to move out to get away from this? Anyways, I as much as I hate the intruders, I love houses being built, walking through a half finished house has a unique feel to it. I love that the walls have not yet absorbed the patter of childrens feet, the muffled sighs of parents, the constant hum of electrical appliances. There is a freshness, a promise.

And random things laying around....

I have been posing for a friend of mine who is a painter. He has been bugging me for years to let him do my portrait. We worked out a deal. He does my portrait, and I do his.
This is what Ryan has painted over the past 2 days,
It will look more like this when it is finished
Oil paint is a painstaking medium, it requires time to dry and therefore incredible patience. Luckily if you can wait it out it is also the most forgiving, you can always paint over and correct 'mistakes', thankfully I won't have to sit in that chair for all of that. The luminosity of oil paint is delightful. The only medium more decadent than oil paint is egg tempera, but who has time and $ for that these days?
For those interested in art, check out George Tooker, he painted in egg tempera, as did Andrew Wyeth. These paintings are breathtaking in real life and take a life of their own they way they bounce light and infuse colours.
These are some of the portrait shots I took today. It is the first time in my life I have ever consciously attempted to do somebody's portrait. It was fun, people are so much more interesting than flowers...lol

and
I learned a very important lesson about lighting today. You need lots of it. That and the fact that I need to get over my dislike for flash. I seriously have been kicking myself in the ass and muttering fuck, shit, & wanker due to the lack of clarity on the face in the majority of the shots and all the work I had to do to correct the lighting issues that were fixable. But hey, live and learn right ?
I really love these pictures, I liked them at first, but they have really grown on me today.
Peace
:oooaaa
Sorry if there are editing issues in the blog, I have fixed em seriously...the SG machine is making me get very annoyed and well...that's just tough isn't it?
have a good night and talk soon
