Got back from seeing Joe Nice tonight. If you don't know who Joe Nice is, he's the original ambassador of Dubstep to America as one of the first DJs in the USA to play it. It was at San Diego's "biggest(?)" Dubstep night. The last time I went was, well, the last time Joe Nice was here.
It was a pretty dead night. Most people said it was the most mellow they'd ever seen that party. Probably a huge testament to the idea that the real dubstep is now an underground that's been completely lost here. I already had a sore throat, but my throat's sore from yelling, and I think I pulled a muscle from actually dancing for once.
I'm still having problems with Calculon. He was a friend, but it's now devolved more to business, and even doing that is a pain. He's saying he may have to throw a show for Loxy, Saturday April 7th, which is a night I'm already booked to play at another club. It's not as though I'm headlining talent, so I may pull a double booking.
I don't know if the other promoter has much invested in me on that. I can't not play a Loxy show in SD. I've held the last two, I'm in that cypher, I'll play a dead show with one of my biggest influences over a side-room thing somewhere else for about half of what I generally would like to get.
Whatever the outcome.
