i spoke with ink today regarding permission to play a few tunes i just got from AaronPerpetuum, who is probably one of his biggest collaborators over the past few years. through facebook and what-not, he's sort have gotten introduced to me over the past few months, specifically with the reformation of his crew, The Horsemen. i didn't really speak to ink or loxy personally very much, but i know quite a few people that they work with on these projects.
initially, he asks me, "you want to be my honorary horseman?"
now this doesn't mean anything, really. but to me, it's a lot because i've been supporting the sound very vocally for the past few years. that style, the music, the "horse mentality" has become a primary backbone of my sound.
in a lot ways, it's come to reflect what i feel about myself with regard to the music; it's pure, unflinching, unchanging. the idea that there is a certain essence for what we feel this music is, and we'll stay standing our ground to the end on it. it's an approach to music i respect and use constantly since i first learned to really look at it that way.
so ink says, "you've been down for time... there by default... i'll let the powers that be know that you're a horseman too!"
i told aaron about it. his first reply:
"and you deserve it."
