this treasure that i long for ....

i waited and waited, i thought i could wait no longer.
i searched out for the right gift to myself,
i searched for something worth.
the path took me to a place never seen before,
a place that only few dare to go.
i thought i had found the treasure i sought,
but along with the others, they were just a facade.
when the treasure was finally in my grasp i used it,
but not in the way i would have liked.
it had seemed that along with myself was the whole race of mankind.
we were all chasing after a glory that would be waisted.
now i sit here, tainted by this longing, this unspeakable truth.
" i need more, i need more", is all i can cry out.
so my journey ends here, knowing that no promise of a gift to myself
was ever given or shall ever be received.
