Holy crap there's been a lot of good new sets up. Manko, Odette, Tarrie, Danielle's new set... kind of makes a guy wish this was a dating site rather than a pin-up site...
So what's new with me:
Car still stolen. No big suprise there; Phoenix is number two in the country for stolen cars. I don't have a new car yet, but I'm looking. Not being a psuedo-machismo car guy, the lack of car isn't really hurting my sense of manhood, but I think my parents are kind of getting annoyed with me stealing the car two days a week for school (even though the family of four has three cars... you'd think we'd be able to work it all out).
I went bowling last night, and pretty much the whole crew of guys I've been hanging out with lately were there, so it was pretty cool. The girl I'm dating, who never wants to hang out with my friends, actually came along. AND she kicked all our asses in bowling. Everyone got along, half of us got shitfaced, it was a great night. I'm so glad I'm learning to be social again. We spent the whole ride home with a car full of drunks (and one designated driver/ can't drink anymore because his liver is fucked) trying to sing along with Metallica, and then went to a friend's apartment and got more fucked up and listened to rap music way too loud and tried to sing along to that too. I finally got a ride home, stumbled in, and slept in until two in the afternoon. That is what I call a fucking glorious night.
I'm kind of struggling in school, but thanks to the monotonous fascism of my workplace, I'm actually at a point in my life where I like going to school. I like most of the classes I'm taking. I enjoy being on campus, surrounded by people, meeting people, being within walking distance of like four bookstores.... I'm actually, for the first time in two years, enjoying college.
Current Reading Material:
The Hidden Messages in Water, by Masaru Emoto. A Japanese scientist basically proves that, in addition to pollution and music, human emotion has an effect on natural processes, like the crystallization of ice in water. Not new-age bullshit, a genuine scientific publication. I'm only a couple pages in, but I still highly recommend.
The White Hole in Time: Our Future Evolution and the Meaning of Now, by Peter Russell. Kind of new-agey bullshit, but for a Westerner trying to internalize Zen, this book is perfect... it addresses Zen concepts of living in the moment without ever actually mentioning anything from Eastern religions. Plus, the guy gets into the Singularity a little bit... and if you know what the Singularity is (Google it, I would recommend), you know how anything about it is an interesting read.
Exalted: A Day as Dark as Night, by Carl Bowen, from White Wolf. I kind of gave up on White Wolf Games after they ended the entire original World of Darkness line, and after I saw one or two of the shitty shitty books they published for their Exalted fantasy setting. So while my Exalted rulebook sits on my shelf collecting dust, on a whim, I grab this book's sequel, Relic of the Dawn... and the book is a fucking blast. It's written by a different author, but it's all part of one ongoing story, so you know there's at least some coolness continuity. I normally don't do fantasy (or a lot of roleplaying in general), but these books, if they continue to kick metric loads of ass, might get me back into roleplaying, maybe even Exalted. This is my non-intellectual read for the month, and it's definitely very cool and inspiring. Nerds, pick it up.
My Current Mood: Anxious. Don't know why, though.
My Current Music: Everything is Wrong, by Moby. I was listening to Mos Def's new album today, which is the fucking shit, and to some old AFI vinyl I found, but it's bedtime now, so I need some calmer music.
