I don't knkow about the rest of you, but I feel safer.
A president who is in cahoots with the enemy is better than a president who doesn't have a daddy who's best friends with the Saudis. So we'll all get a big heads up if something bad is heading our way, mostly because al Qaeda will probably Instant Message Bush and let him know a couple days ahead of time.
At the same time, all of the Bush and Cheney shady business connections are out in the open. We don't have to wait through the nail-biting suspense of finding out what skeletons Kerry has in his closet. Every bad move, from his impressive five-minute military career to his drug use, to his failing Saudi-funded oil companies and high rate of executions as governor is right there on the table for us to see. And everybody knows about Dick, and his connection to certain companies, and all that shit too. So there's no conspiracy theory bullshit to fly around, because we already know these fuckers are shady.
Here's the thing that gets me though: The American news media is really playing up the idea that Bush won because people saw him as being the more moral candidate, for his stances on gay marriage and stem-cell research obviously. But you know that old white fuck is doing a Lady MacBeth, with the blood of a thousand young Americans on his hands for no reason. Plus, it's been proven without a doubt that his administration flat-out lied to the American people. "We know they have weapons of mass destruction." BZZZZT. Wrong. Sorry. Nothing. "We know there are connections between Iraq and al Qaeda." BZZZZZT. Wrong again. Osama even publicly denounced Sadam and his secular state, but the Collective American Dumbass couldn't take it straight from his own mouth over the word of our President.
I'm so sick of this Old White Fucker playing it up to the Christian Right. Even at the end of his fucking acceptance speech, he mentioned strenthening our "families and our faith." Wake up to reality, America. The Nuclear Family Model is fucked, probably a consequence of a fucked job market that Bush created. He turned Clinton's millions-and-millions surplus into a fucking billions deficit, and the majority of it was spent on Florida (Votes! Votes!) and fucking Iraq.
So it goes without saying that education is still fucked it in this country. But that's ok, because we can't have our kids learning about evolution and shit like that anyways, right?
The numbers coming out of independent entities about the number of civilian deaths in Iraq is estimated to be over 100,000. Yes, that's both from us and from insurgent guerillas. But that's still 100,000+ dead people, in addition to the 1,000+ served by McBush from our own country. So my personal opinion: There's at least a large chunk of the Iraqi population, about 100,000 of them, who are NOT better off since our invasion.
Plus, anyone who says we're not over there for economic reasons deserves a fucking kick in the face. What kind of people are being captured by the insurgent guerillas? AMERICAN BUSINESSMEN. We haven't even established the country for fuck's sake, but we're already trying to make money off of them. We've got car bombs going off in the streets, and guys in business suits and briefcases running around trying to make money for the American Empire. Does our capitalist greed know no limits? Send some fuckers to the moon without spacesuits, I'm sure there's a buck to be made.
That's the end. I'm a lot more pissed off than this rant implies, but I don't want to damage my keyboard.
If you have a problem with anything I've written, feel free to comment. Or get kicked in the face.
PS: Thanks to Midnyte for both her political observations and posting that picture of Rose. Both helped to calm me down.

Most of the people who are members of these "faiths" that I personally encounter really don't know shit about them, especially as far as history is concerned. Like, how the Bible wasn't in the hands of the common populace for several hundred years, because A) no one could read, and B) you could supposedly only read the Bible in Latin, so Church officials could tell people the book said whatever the fuck they wanted it to say. Plus, most of the current versions are translations of translations of translations of translations, and for a good example of how well Greek and Latin and these languages translate, the slang term for "prostitute" in Latin is the same word as "wolf" (thus the story of Romulus and Remus).
I tend to know more Useless Bible Trivia (C) than my Christian friends, which just floors me. The really dedicated ones get a lot of respect out of me, but everyone else is just going through the motions, never turning an eye on themselves, but using it as an excuse to judge other people and make themselves feel better.
People need to realize that homosexuality will be accepted. Native Americans used to be hunted like dogs and their body parts sold for money.... now, they have at least similar rights to the rest of us. African Americans used to have absolutely no rights at all, they were just property... now, once again, they have similar (and ideally the same) rights as the rest of us. Alcohol drinkers were out in the 20's, but bam, people got over it. So this country can fight all it wants and make ourselves look like Historical Assholes, or we can just accept something that, if we don't, our grandkids will be smart enough and open-minded enough to accept.
