So with my phone, solving one problem usually creates 6 more.
Case in point, I got my replacement yesterday. I had to go to UPS to pick it up, and there was hardly anyone working there, and about 20 people waiting for packages. Those UPS people are quite possibly the most inept I've ever seen.
Anyways, I get it home and on the charger, and put my SIM in it, and it wants me to activate it. which means putting in my T-Mobile Account username/password. Fair enough, except there's a username field that says "r1" and is uneditable. So, I add my password, and of course that doesn't work. Then I try to use the register button, and tell it I'm a returning user. same thing, only after rejeting my password with that r1 username, it opens the username field and I type what I think is my username and password. It's now stuck on a "Attempting to sign in" Screen. Possible problems could be:
1. I don't know my password. T-mobile won't give me that information.
2. My SIM card was replaced on friday. the kiosk worker took out this small gadget, put my old one and my new one into it, and said he had transfered the data from my old one to the new one. However, I don't know if that worked, and I don't have my original SIM card anymore.
3. Because of the poor reception at my place and the SIM card reading mechanism on the old one going bad while trying to "activate" the new SIM on friday, I could have really confused the "network" about who and what is using my sidekick.
4. not necesarily a problem, but Rita knocked out 4 call centers for T-mobile and now I have a very long fucking wait when I call tech support. Which I can't do while trying to "activate" my phone. And I don't have another phone. And if I'm going to call on mine, I can't be at my place, doing other things. It has to be outside and up the hill for signal.
5. I have to figure all this out, with the long tech support wait time, while working an 8 hour shift.
6 if I need to go get my old SIM, I'd have to drive up to Northgate (7 miles north, but something I don't wanna do), and odds are the kisok person threw it away.
It's probably going to be another 3 days before my phone works. I'm going to demand a free month of service, since they didn't give me a loaner phone either.
What else is new? oh, I'm going to Serenity at 10:20 on Friday. I was tempted to do the midnight showing on thursday, but I have to work the next day. Weeknights are early bed nights for me.
