At work we have breakroom stocked with magazines... And all the ones I
normally read, I've already read. So I read "ladies' home journal"
tonight.
I read this cute story about a mom who grew up wanting a pony. When she
had her kids (adopted from china), she thought they'd want a pony too,
so she took them to see a pony she was going to buy for them. They
weren't really interested, but they were interested in the chicks... The
older girl, Anna, became so enamored with the chicks that all she talked
about for nearly a year were chicks. The mother was kind of frustrated
because she spent $1500 on the pony, and all the girls wanted were $3
chicks. Anyway, Anna's birthday came up and her mom got her a box of 4
chicks, bantam silkies from china. She related in her story how she had
Anna come in the kitchen and close her eyes... As mom put down the box,
Anna could already hear the peeps of the chicks... Her eyes and mouth
went wide as saucers as she picked up a chick and held it close to her
cheek, cradling it. She asked with a quiver in her voice,
"are...these...my....chicks?" she spent the rest of the day playing
with, cuddling, loving on her chicks, watching them sleep, all the while
never losing her excitement for having chickies. she was still saying, "
I have chickies!" when her mom tucked her into bed.
The story really got to me. I love that kind of childlike intensity of
grateful excitement and joy over something so simple. I wish I had that
in my life... And I believe I will when I meet the woman of my dreams.
So... 7 more days til tat day. I think, since I failed to call the one
place, that I'll visit the other main place in town and see what they
think/can do. I really should put the money toward some debt... But I'm
really wanting to get this tattoo. But maybe if it's really worthwhile
it's worth waiting for. Grr, I hate being responsible!
I'm looking forward to a nine. Day. Week. Ugh... I'm doing that to save
8 hours of overtime. It's ok, I guess. They know to be easy on me.
Probably, I will get the tattoo on the 27th, actually. I'll have 2 days
off to recover from it then.
