This first is a piece my (now ex) wife and I both have. At the bottom is our anniversary, she is the Hedgehog, I am the Panda. Each year on our anniversary we added a cherry blossom. We moved often so we liked having different artists doing their own style of cherry blossom. The most recent one is obviously post divorce and I just told my artist, dark and Gothic, and I think she did swell and it looks perfect to me. I decided I didn't want to put thought other than the divorce blossom into my back, instead I put effort into drawing up the start of a very large piece. For now my back I am still on the fence about what I want to do. Until someone comes along I will probably keep adding a flower each year. Possibly using the emotions of the previous year, when and if someone else comes along, figure out how to proceed with that person in mind.
Okay for those who don't know, this is the start of a very large Studio Ghibli piece. I love all of the meanings and stories Hayao Miyazaki and his teams do. Very environmentally conscious with almost every movie having earth, water, sky with other elements thrown in and how we need to take care of them and subtly showing the harm we cause. The stories also have meaning to how people need to take care of one another and help even those that are misguided. The movies always have more of an antagonist then ever really a "bad guy" more of someone with a different look on life.
My intentions from here are for my left arm to pretty much hold the good people of the movies whereas the antagonists will go on my right arm. If you see the cliff spiral up. I am after creating a flow of everyone from the sea to the sky. Across my chest will be a location for all of the characters to meet. Still drawing up my ideas, I love Castle in the sky, but I think the Bath house from "Spirited Away" is also a good location. It is a work in progress, I want to house as many of the movies as I possibly can and will continue to draw up ways for them all to interact together, but for now here is what I have and I hope you enjoy!
