First batch of soap is setting right now. It's 7lbs of olive/coconut/palm oil pure soap. No scent, no color. This is my first attempt at an all natural baby soap good for very sensitive skin. We'll see what happens.
A few things I noted along the way. My mold is slightly off in the cuts and leaks at one corner. Hopefully the soap can gel fast enough for it to not all leak out. Wrapped the bottom in saran wrap to try to prevent what I can, but I may end up with some horribly soaked towels and half a batch of soap....
Saran wrap does NOT work well to line a mold like this one. Freezer paper cut to conform next time (should also help with the leaking).
My divider slipped while pouring half the batch and needed to be removed. I was originally going to do half regular and have oatmeal lavender soap....oh well. Maybe next time.
Plastic container and lye beads do not work well together. The beads built static as I poured them to measure and started flying out. Makes for harder cleanup.....vinegar countertops for two days to make sure it's all gone...
All in all, the actual soap making process, I think, went well. There are a few kinks to be worked out and those should be pretty easy fixes. This is all trial and error.
