Dude. I just got spammed on the phone. I swear, it was like a pop up ad in real life. So the phone rings and my sister picks it up. They ask for me, specifically, so she asks who it is..
The guy says he's calling in reference to the error message on my computer. I raise an eyebrow and take the phone. So he's calling from some sort of place that sells either anti-spyware or some other sort of anti-virus software. He says that I sent them an error report about 4 days ago that told them I had a serious problem. My computer was running slower and there could be spyware or a virus on it.
I then ask him where he's calling from. He tells me the name, which I forget now.. and I say, "so how did you get my error report if whenever one is sent, it goes to Microsoft?" He answers. "well ma'am, Microsoft is a huge company and they just don't have the time to call everyone so they have us do it."
and so it goes...
me: so then why didn't you tell me you were calling on behalf of microsoft?
him: well like i said, i'm the software support technician for your computer
me: i didn't know my computer came with it's very own technician
him: yes, well, your computer may have spyware because of the error report that you sent us
me: and who are you again?
him: ma'am, i'm the software support technician for your computer
me: on behalf of microsoft?
him: so ma'am, this is a very serious problem with your computer
me: ok, then i'll just call microsoft and talk to them since they're too busy to call me.
him: dead silence. click.
wtf??? since when do pop-ups make phone calls???
