So much more thats goin on since I took leave, its really quite amazing to me in retrospect. MY SHOW Live has started to finally get going, I have a great small venue to record/shoot at now and things are def moving along. The last episode features a very eclectic and interesting band, quite a departure from the brash and bang of the 1st 2 episode with The Atomic Bitchwax & Kingsnake. The Ajax Rasputin's Leviathan Variety Show, who describe themselves as "It's a New Orleans jazz funeral with the spontaneous eruption of punk agitation and lounge sexiness." It also features special guest star Lenny Kaye from The Patti Smith Group on the back end jamming out some Iggy and the Stooges. Im still a lil overwhelmed having one of the pioneers of CBGBs playing on MY SHOW. Its rather validating to have a man of his stature tell you you're doing a great thing for the local music scene. Nicest guy you can meet too. Thanks to Lenny for being beyond cool. check it out if yer bored or curious. Kudos to my soundman and partner Dave btw, the music sounds incredible as it always does, so Ill have to let it slide that Lennys mic didnt work in the interview part. sadly I had to edit all that out, kinda funny seeing him sit there with a mic saying nothing heh. Some of you kids might dig this
So Im in a band now, had a pretty horrible practice last night too. Gigs comin up in 2 weeks so I have to get my shit together. Im just not used to 40-50 hrs a week of very physical work and my are are just fuckin beat. Songs I had lil trouble playing a month ago are beasts to play now. Ill get thru it. Will one of my bass players(we have 2) calls it Spaghetti Western Doom Metal. I just call it sludgy stoner horror rock. These songs were recorded and shot over a month ago so I was playing them better, till last night at least. But Im sure it'll pull together soon. Check us out, and yes the photos I used for the song Length Of Rope are yet again recycled Dead Issues pics...but what the hell. it fit and i had no video from that night but its my fave song and I wanted to get it out ther. We didnt play it the night of our shoot, Will had a 10mm kidney stone removed that week and we were pretty lucky to get 4 songs out of him in a chair. The pain is pretty noticable.
I guess its safe to say SG wanted to look like Tumblr or something. Well, as always a lot of people dont like when they change the site, myself included. but we always get used to it.
well thats it in a nutshell, or at least whats important. Otherwise its been a long year of practically having to pan handle on the street to survive. but its all coming together now, I work at the best 1800 capacity venue in N. East PA, and have all the resources at my disposal(except funding...for now) to hopefully build what Ive been trying to do all along...make the best goddamn rock video show since Don Kirshners Rock Concert and The Midnight Special of my 70's childhood.
