I went to see The Used and Taking Back Sunday Friday night.
The Used were decent, they weren't amazing but then I've never been a huge fan of theirs. I still enjoyed their old school stuff like I Caught Fire and Buried Me Alive and all that. And they covered Killing In The Name Of for the outro of their last song and had the entire sold out 2000(ish) person crowd jumping and singing along which was pretty fucking cool.
Taking Back Sunday though were absolutely fucking amazing. That was the fourth time I've seen them now and easily the best. They played Number Five With A Bullet which was the first time I'd ever heard it live and stuff like Stood A Chance and Beat Up Car off their new album comes across amazingly well in a live show. Amazingly impressed by them. Especially after being pretty underwhelmed by New Again and their self-titled albums. It's so good to see them back at or near their best.
Then we went and smashed a few drinks in the pub after they finished so we wouldn't be caught up in the rush of 2000 people trying to leave by the 1 road in and out of the venue. We ended up leaving a couple of hours later and were a bit loud and rowdy having a joke and a laugh walking back to the car (a mate was DD, we're not that stupid) when a couple of cops hanging out at the 7-11 try to give it the big ones because we were acting 'obnoxious'.
It all got off to a smashing start when after apparently asking us to walk towards them while we were still out of earshot, they proceed to ask "are you all retarded?" Which is the kind of example setting political correctness the police force is globally renowned for, clearly. After this not at all antagonistic opening question they proceeded to grill us about which of us was shouting the word 'cunt' at the top of our lungs. Spoiler alert: none of us. Now we're all quite big fans of said word in the right circumstances among mates but apparently none so much as this fine upstanding police officer gentleman who then proceeded to drop the c-bomb at least a dozen times over the next couple of minutes. After we advised him that we had in fact not done so he proceeded to inform us that we'd all be held there with them while they performed complete checks on all of us to see if we had any outstanding warrants. Spoiler alert: none of us. So half an hour later he informs the three of us that while he should give us a fine for disorderly conduct (or some nonsense) he would in fact let us off with a warning. Because he's just such a smashing individual, I guess.
I have a problem with people who have that whole 'all cops are bastards' attitude because I do personally know some great people who happen to be in the police force but HOLY FUCK the absolute shitheels that are cops definitely outnumber the good ones at least ten to one.
