Where to begin with Moana...
Well lets start with the plot.
Moana is born to a tribe that fears what is beyond the ocean, for so long they have lived on the little island that they forgot their ancestors, so when Moana as a child shows interest in the ocean she is frowned upon and told its dangerous.
However as she gets older she gives into curiosity and takes a boat into the sea, her first sailing goes wrong and her grandma is there to get her back on her feet and encourage her to continue her love of the ocean.
Which works out well given the immense destiny she has to fulfil to calm the land beyond the ocean. (no I wont say more.)
Moana is a southern hemisphere movie based around legends from Hawaii??
With Dwayne Johnson playing the voice of a Demi God with more issues than just his mental health, he is probably on par with the stow away Hei Hei that joins Moana on her adventure. He has a weapon that looks like the New Zealand Maori Hook.
It is full of catchy songs and good heart and even has its sob moments for you softies out there.
I found it quite long for a Disney movie, it was somewhat slow paced and I guess that's a good thing, there is nothing worse than a rushed movie. Overall I first thought it dragged but after a few days went by and I was humming the tunes I realised I actually quite liked it and would definitely watch it again...in fact the reason I am reviewing it at the moment is because I was considering what to watch and Moana is my choice movie.
I rate this Disney movie 8/10!
Loved the powerful songs (though most of them were just a different variant of How Far I'll Go)
Really enjoyed the story and Moana as a protagonist
Here are some songs from the movie! ( Other than You're Welcome, I didn't add ones with video clips just for spoiler reasons)
