This weeks blog homework was to time hop about last years goals and how successfull you were at achieving them. Since I wasn't here last year here is my take on what I want by the end of this year @missy @lyxzen
When I think about what I would like to achieve this year a wave of exasperation flows over me, not only are we already approaching June, but I seem to have done nothing with my life this year worth being excited about mentioning. It seems to me that Christmas came and went I worked through new year and then blinked and missed 4 months.
When the new year came I was full of 'meh' about making New Year resolutions like giving up chocolate or maybe start heroin (nobody said it has to be good) So I never made any, but I did have in mind some idea of where I wanted the year to go some of them personal but most of them not so much. Here are a couple I'd like to share.
Back in November I took on the NANOWRIMO challenge where I had to write 50.000 words in a month. Which kicked me back into writing with lots of enthusiasm. But once the month was over the desire to accomplish the challenge of finishing my 4th novel by 2017 gradually started to fade and my hopes of ever finishing that book dissipated with it. Now in June I have revised and edited my 60.000 word (so far) novel, and have actually deleted about 20.000 words and half a plot that was failing. I haven't wrote since March. But as something I would like to finish by the end of the year maybe this blog can act as a personal challenge to see this goal through to completion.
Along with my writing another goal for the end of the year was to successfully learn how to make a item of clothing such as a dress and to the standards that I could feel comfortable wearing it in public without feeling it is going to split somewhere at any given minute. This idea came to me when my partner was offered the sewing machine of his late Nanna. So far I have been playing about with it, trying to stitch together bears made from old clothes, but then I learnt that hand sewing with bears worked better, took more time and was actually more enjoyable. My first bear (by machine) looked like an abortion of some deranged rag bear (it is still in pieces on the desk) but my second attempt (by hand) turned out fairly well. Which lead me into the art of bear making and sculpting of faces etc. which I would also like to explore more by the end of the year, just to get a better idea of how to do it.
Lastly, I was looking at moving from the UK back to NZ where life seems that little sweeter. I enjoyed my time there working in the stables and was offered an apprenticeship to learn to ride the race horses. (Due to my now ex of 4 years I came back as he didn't want to move away from his family...or do anything but sit and watch movies for that matter. And I felt foolish for it, but lesson learnt.) I would love to go back just to have that easy way of living back. Unfortunately due to my extravagant living beyond my means lifestyle I have failed to save so much as £20 towards moving away and estimated I would need at least £4000 to take my dog with me. This desire will have to wait another time. As my priorities of late have been completing my sleeve and half a back piece and enjoying the luxuries of things like clothes and the ever present bills.
Amongst all the failed creativity and saving to travel, I have however been fairly successful in going to the gym, getting ink'd and even kicking up my hobby in the modelling world. With plenty of photo shooting opportunities and not enough days in the week I am keeping occupied of late with work in the real world, keeping my home tidy and posing (sometimes naked). Though I suspect this hobby will be a temporary thing as shooting sets for SG is more than enough and I would like to have time to do other, more interesting things than spend my days off in studios or on locations in front of a camera.
In the near future I will be planning a beach holiday for my small family and hopefully camping will be on that list of things to do. It excites me because this will be Boris' (my dog) first time on a beach holiday and also his first time going in a tent! I can imagine it going horribly wrong but what holiday would be any fun without a little mishap and adventure on the way!
Just because I am not successful doesn't mean I am not succeeding ;)
