Up until recently my favourite book was Dark Fire by Chris D' Lacey. It is the last book in the young adult fantasy Last Dragon Chronicles. However After recently reading Neal Shusterman's Unwind Dystology of a not so far in the future world where abortions were made illegal and unwinding your child had become the to do instead.
Here is the definition of what it is: Unwinding
My favourite of this dystopian gem is the first of the books, in which Shusterman goes into detail on the act of Unwinding a teenage boy. (the little shit deserved it, I'm not gonna lie, but I was briefly traumatized by the impressive imagery conveyed.)
Completely original (at least from the books I have read.) and easy to lose yourself in.
Unwind takes its reader in as part of the AWOL's and the characters are diverse and likeable from the beginning. Told in three points of view with Connor being the main voice, Unwind is a quick paced nightmarish book that encourages its reader to think outside of the box.
I highly recommend this series to everyone, and have even added a fan made trailer for you to enjoy.
“Looks are deceiving," Risa says. "After all, when I first saw you I thought you looked reasonably intelligent.”
