hello lords & ladies, rogues & wenches!!! i hope your Thanksgiving was truly that, a day you could pause & reflect on the blessings in your life. it was that for me, i enjoyed an afternoon with those i love the most. although i do have a few mishaps to share with you...
wed night the man & i went to see beowulf (which was fabulous, even if it didn't completely stick to the saga i enjoyed the moral element it added). the animation was CRAZY - at one point i could swear they actually cut to the actors' faces, no enhancements whatsoever. but we invited a friend of ours out, & he brought his young son. only being familiar with the poem i was taught in school, i figured, no big deal. there ended up being so much inuendo & sexual reference, which normally wouldn't faze me, but having a minor there, i just wanted to yell at the screen "MAKE IT STOP!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! THIS IS BEOWULF!!!!! STICK TO THE STORY!!!!!" i felt so responsible. anyone ever been in that kind of situation? it was a first for me, not being a parent.
i was on a roll, boy-howdy. on thanksgiving we spent the day at my parents' house. my sister & grandparents were also there. now... all i had for breakfast was a huge mug of coffee, & caffeine really makes me fly. but i was saving my appetite for the amazing meal my mom always makes. so we get there & i'm planning on multiple helpings (because this lil' girl can eat!!!). as is usual, my dad pours me a glass of wine & i enjoy it with my first plateful. anticipating a second plate, i ask for another glass. i'm starting to feel the effects of the alcohol mixing with the caffeine & it's got me really giddy, but i figure once i eat some more i'll be in good shape. as i reach for seconds, my husband flags me. everyone else just ate one plate, & are only picking... but i'm like 'YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND - I NEED MORE FOOD!!!" so instead i end up getting a little sloshed in front of my family. he totally flagged me on the wrong thing. grrr. oh well. now we'll see if my folks think i have a problem. but as far as food, i have a pile of leftovers in the fridge i can't wait to tap into...
how was everyone else's day?
