I went to culinary school several years ago with aspirations of becoming a great chef. I'd have a restaurant booked months in advance, and I'd do the talk-show circuit promoting my cook book. Regretfully, to be a great chef you need to start early in life. Beginning in one's 30s makes things especially hard because its difficult to work the long hours for low pay that chef wanna-bes need to do.
But it has given me an appreciation for excellent food. When I go to restaurants now, I try and order something I've never before had. Rabbit liver and pistachio pate? Yes, please! An onion tart? Why not. This has really broadened my culinary horizons and made me realize there's much more to food than the Olive Garden or Chevy's. Its made me understand what good food really is.
Which is why I hate myself for going to McDonalds this morning for a Sausage & Egg McMuffin. Goddamnit, they must lace those things with opium because I think I'm addicted to them.

Something odd happens when I try to edit my blogs to add more info...all sorts of strange characters get added to the words...So I end up commenting on my own blog. I view it as verbal masturbation.
