Dude, I fucking miss Antioch.
I'm really glad they were able to stay open. Though I wasn't healthy enough to be there when I was there, I really value my experiences, and miss the community and dialogue.
I was walking across my current campus today and stumbled upon an obese, white, very well-groomed (read: typical campus rich-kid, we're loaded with 'em) male student setting up a large and obtrusive anti-choice installation.
I was so pissed. I laughed rather too loudly when I noticed who was building this assault on women's status and health rights. Of course he heard me. (I may speak softly, but my laugh is anything but...) He looked at me like I had three heads. Of course, a woman being outraged at a rich white male posing an affront to her reproductive autonomy is apparently a rarity around here, so I might as well have had three heads. I shouted to him: "Oh, a white boy protesting against a women's issue--be proud of yourself." Pretty sure the irony was lost on him.
I was so upset by this display that I was shaking. This bullshit happens about once a semester, and every time, I get upset and want to tear it down or stage a counter-protest (I would of course be arrested and/or fined for posting pictures of women hemorrhaging from illegal back-alley abortions and women beaten by their partners or fathers, or children born with gross physical and mental deformities whose families cannot afford the therapies and treatments necessary to help the child live a decently full life, or evidence of poverty and neglect or statistics describing the over-population of the planet or if I posted a cross for every woman who was impregnated and gave birth against her will, or who was beaten to death by a brutal partner or parent, or who was forcibly sterilized... I need to stop right now or I'll be pissed again before I get to my next class.

Hey, who's down for a west Ohio SQ meet-up at my bar? Some of y'all have been in to see me at work an know how fucking great it is. And it's getting better. Our live DJ is back, we have new visuals, new furniture, an improved pour system, bottle service, yadayadayada. Seriously. If enough of you show interest, I'll talk to the owners and managers about maybe doing a monthly thing with specials and shit. Eh? Let me know!
For those of you who want to send me stickers and don't have the address:
1017 Pursell Ave
Dayton, OH 45420
And PerilousPup and candykidfairy, I'll have pics up soon! They're on my computer at home, and I'm never home anymore, so... haha.
Alrighty, it's been awhile, so...
Qs
1. Know about Antioch College?
2. How many colleges have you gone to (0 is totally an acceptable answer)?
3. How far away from your parents do you currently live?
4. Any plans to move anytime in the next year or so? Where to?
5. Should people dress their animals up in cutesy little outfits?

I did have a question that is slightly off topic.
The same ones who had an anti-vegetarian demonstration outside of the main dining hall (where the south Asian engineering students usually eat, mind you...)
WTF? What does an anti-vegetarian demonstration comprise of?
I've never heard of one.
