Okay, nudie pic before my rant.
Seriously, y'all. Whatever happened to compassion?
I mean this personally, politically, socially, EVERYthing.
Whatever happened to caring about ourselves and others?
Where is empathy? Where is kindness?
How did we get to the point where we think it's okay to commit violence against ourselves, one another, and our Earth?
When did we become unaware of what we were doing?
Or when did we stop caring?
How much longer can this last?
We see, every day in every thing, how this lack of compassion harms ourselves, one another, and our Earth?
Where is the outpouring of rage at this?
We live in a culture in which violence defines one's place.
This culture is expanding.
And it's coming home to roost.
In our hearts, in our inter-personal relationships, in international poitics.
PEOPLE ARE BEING SLAUGHTERED.
Hearts are broken, communities are shattered, water sources polluted.
And people are fucking dying. Horrible deaths.
Blown to bits by IEDs, suicide bombers, missiles, grenades.
Ripped to bits by bullets provided by removed governments.
Butchered with machetes and bayonets.
Drowned in hunger and deprived of water.
Eaten alive by preventable disease.
Profit? Greed? Anger? Fear?
I can't say it's insanity or illness.
But it is pathological.
I think we're naturally good.
I am blessed to live in such a condition that I have access to safe food and water and can get a job. Not everyone, even within the borders of this "greatest of lands", can have that.
Most of the people with whom I take classes and those I serve at my weekend job come from even better conditions. They've had money and opportunities served them on a silver platter.
How did they come to the conclusion that we're evil? They've not been harmed by greed the way that starving and ill children in sub-Saharan Africa have. Those chldren will still embrace someone with a kind face. These spoiled adults will be suspiscious of that same smile, even spit in it.
Who taught us to distrust? To hate? To harm?
We're losing the sense of community that essentially MAKES us human.
It's heart-breaking.
Sorry. I'm exhausted today.
So, anyway.
Qs
1. What would you name a new pet? (you can make up the kind of animal and sex of said animal)
2. If I get my little farm in New England/Oregon/wherevs, would you come visit and help feed the animals and tend the garden?
3. What is your favorite vegetable?
4. What veggies should I grow in my fantasy garden?
5. What's that smell???
