I know I suck at the updating skillz, but I haz an excuse... the power went out... twice. Monday I tried updating and the power blinked out for a second and turned my computer off. Yesterday I typed a long one and while I was proofreading (yes I check for spelling errors) the power went out again. Sumumabitch!!! Let's try this again.
Take three:
I finally stepped into the 21st century with the purchase of a new iPhone. All I can say is "Holy Crap!" My last phone gave me the ability to make calls and sometimes recieve them. Now I have GPS. I think GPS must stand for Great Phucking Scott (Doc Brown style). With the new phone I gotz me a new Nashvegas number. If you need it PM me. The old one will be turned off VERY soon.
While in Maryland, I placed an order for a new King Doublebass. It'll be a flat black Road king with custom pinstriping. Only problem is I don't know how I want my pinstriping. I would like to go for an old honky-tonk, spaghetti-western look but I cannot find any images of what I want. HOMEWORK: shoot me some images of the genre (ie. western shirts, movie stills...). The good part is that I have time to figure it out. Build time on the bass: 4-6 months... ouch.
When I got back to work I was asked to take a side-motion. Not pro, not de but side. I am the new DRUM department manager. Why? Because the ENTIRE drum department is quiting for one reason or another and I am the only other person in the store that can tech drums. I mean really, how hard is it to tech a drum. There are really only 4 things to know: heads, woods, lugs, and tuning. Cymbals? Hit it. Do you like it? buy it. I am going from the largest, most knowledge extensive department to the smallest. Leave it to me to have a degree in Pro Audio, play upright bass and sell drums. The good part is that it will take a lot of stress off of me. Plus I get two new guys that I can run circles around while I am training them.
If there is anyone in the Northeast that is looking for a good rockabilly show, Hillbilly Hellcats are playing the east coast in late August. They are even playing Joe Squared in Baltimore. That'll be interesting.
I cannot remember what else I wrote the first couple of times around so I will end it with my favorite pic of me from ECCT 2008:

You might want to check with my good SG friend Holliday. She does pinstriping herself, maybe not EXACTLY the style you're looking for, but she was a hot rod queen before she became a mommy and may have some insight on who or where to go. Scroll past the new baby pics in her recent blog and check out the stuff she did on the fly. Again, maybe not a perfect match for your needs, but she could possibly get you connected.
