The "24 hours in Charlotte" trip was interesting. The drive of 6.5 hours EACH WAY kinda sucked but it was worth it. Got to meet a longtime SG friend and swap interesting stories and random knowledge such as:
- Jerome the Gnome
- Difference between a nerd, a geek, and a dork and where we fall on the spectrum
- How does frequency response of titanium differ from that of the cochlea? (right part?)
- What it was like growing up in San Diego (not me, I grew up in Bodymore, Murderland)
- Dinos that chomp down when you squeeze their wiener
- WTF is livermash?
Overall a good trip.
So anyway... after being hit on by a WT woman in the dingy supermarket down the street , I have decided that it really is about time for me to try and meet someone down here. First stop, Craigslist. This could be scary. I may need madscience's help on this. She is the craigslist dating vet. Since my first option fell through recently, this is option 2.

madscience:
Here I am! First word of advice, don't do craigslist first if you've never done a dating website. There's a scary factor there you don't find in some of the other websites. Any of the paid websites are generally okay except eHarmony. eHarmony SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS. OkCupid is free, and a lot of people like it. I personally like the crowd on Nerve.com, but it's a paid site. But it tends to attract a more alternative-type crowd. Yahoo personals, match.com, etc. are fine (paid) - they tend to attract a wider range of folks. You might also want to join us over at the Online Dating group for more advice . . . Good luck!
