Just got back from another movie.
Big Fish.
I went into this movie with a little bit of a bias since I know the naked river girl but even if I didn't know her, I would have thought that this movie freaking ROCKED!!!!
First off, this is not my kind of movie. It wasn't the action packed thrillride that I thought it was going to be. It was basically a chick flick that was aimed towards men. Maybe a Rooster flick. There I coined that phrase and it's pat pending so don't steal it.
The movie is about a dying man who's son isnt speaking to his father since he believes that his father is a liar. So on his journey to understand his father he comes to realize that his father is not a liar and loves him for it. That's the short of it without giving anything away. Add to this story a bizzare cast of characters and some really crazy plot twists and you have one of the best films I have ever seen. Thank god I saw Cold Mountain before this one because if I hadn't I probably would have urinated on the screen in Cold Mountain. We all know how I felt about that brown floater in the shallow end.
Now I did have a little quirk about it. Very little action. Maybe a tad more could have worked a little more but it worked without it. Just a point Tim.
Other than that, it was beautiful. They are calling this Tim Burtons masterpiece. I would say it's his Opus. The seemless melding of a great love story such as Edward Scissorhands and
odd assortment of characters such the likes of Nightmare before Christmas. He has taken elements of both and worked them together to make greatness. Also let's not overlook the fact that the music masterpiece man is back with Burton. Danny Elfman scored this film and boy he nevers ceases to amaze me. Excellent job everyone.
So my advice to you is, go see this movie with a date. Go see this movie now. Take a tissue for the crying, and yes there will be crying. If you don't cry in this movie you are a Nazi. The ending is awesome. And look for Bevin Kaye as the Naked River woman. She is the last credit and she is awesome. Cheer at the screen.
This one gets a 9 almost a 10
for the eyepopping cast, great story and beautiful scenery.
for Bevin. A great stuntwoman and good person.
and
for the warm fuzzy feeling left in my gut after this movie warmed me to the core.
Don't delay. Go now.
