For anyone who tuned in for the last grumpy little run I had on suffocating and being out of place etc. etc. and so forth, it's still the same kinda. But we had such a wonderful day that it didn't matter for today. We had coffee this morning in Oakland and then headed over to Fruitvale for the Dia de Los Muertos Festival. Its always a favorite of ours. And then finished up with dinner with her friends at a Puerto Rican restaurant on International Blvd. We walked and talked and held hands and kissed and had a wonderful time doing it. We eve got on the pressure thing a little bit. We both know that there is an impending "discussion" coming and it isn't going to be an easy one but today we didn't seem to think about it.
Been a rough weekend though. Last week, my parent were on vacation in San Diego and they messed up their car somehow. The old man hs seemed more tired than usual (a thought which worries me more than I let on) so I volunteered to fly down and drive the car up Fri night and Sat. morning. It was an ok trip. I stayed with my Dad's brother (who isn't looking any better than my dad) which was nice (and maybe a little depressing) and visit for a little while. Sat was a straight shot. I only stopped for gas and barley stopped for lunch. It was weird going down there just for a night but, I got to catch up on my reading (something I've been neglecting entirely too much lately).
Now, I gottta start getting ready for the visit from the cousin. I got a whole itinerary planned out. On top of that, I gotta work in Reading on Tues night. So, in the matter of 10 days, I'll have a complete tour of California. San Diego to Reading, the following week to Tahoe and then to Yosemite. Throw in A Raider game and the day trips and its gonna be a busy couple of weeks. I'll write all about it when I'm done. (If I live that long)
And to close, I do have a quote that I did like. It is from a guy named William H. Gass and it sums up the whole experience of reading and writing. Anyhow, here it goes:
We listen to writers who have written well...because that self through which the sentence passes...is made not of flesh and bone and their dinky experiences, but of pages absorbed from the masters, because that is what writing comes from: It comes from reading.

Dunno why, but no matter how many times I get sick from it I just can't give up sake. I just can't eat sushi without it.
Oh, yeah, you get a cookie.
