Had a bad day at work today.
An opposing party, who has counsel representing her, insists upon phoning me. She says she's reported her counsel to the Law Society, but hey bitch, guess what - you still aren't supposed to have communication with us.
She refuses to be self-represented (as she was for three years), but at the same time will not obtain new counsel. So in her head she feels that she should call me. Daily.
She phoned me four times yesterday.
When I told her during the last call she is not to communicate directly with our offices, along with the fact that my hands are tied with regard to releasing funds to her benefit without my boss' clear instruction... she got mad. Maybe mad is too soft of a word to use.
You would think people would realize when money is being paid out as a property equalization or settlement that properly executed documents must in place and trust conditions imposed must be satisfied.
Well, not her. She flipped out and started screaming at me, demanding the money be released immediately, saying she would come down to our offices in person... etc. After a good 25 minutes of her going absolutely off the wall, I had my boss call her. A message was left stating she was not to communicate directly with our offices any further, in any form, unless she was clearly self-represented (requiring a Notice to Withdraw as Counsel from her current counsel of record). It was especially stressed that she was not to phone me any further as her calls were bordering on harassment.
This afternoon the border line was crossed. She phoned. She freeeeeeeeaked... threatened myself and my boss, threatened our client, etc. She said that my boss had left her threatening phone messages and she was going to sue. Well guess what moron all of the phone conversations with you are transcribed, and you're well aware of it EVERY time.
I hope she does try to sue.
Like I fucking need that shit - especially from some shit head heroine addict. I'm so bloody professional when I'm at work and I do not fuel people's anger when they call or anything. In fact, according to what I've heard around the office, I'm considered by my boss' and other lawyers' clients who have spoken with me, to be one of the most polite and helpful people.
Honestly, I am not paid enough to deal with that kind of bullshit. Maybe if I was making my boss' coin then I'd be prepared to take that.
Normally I don't let crap like that get to me, but I was having way too crazy of a day today. Our files are all out of control right now... when people learn that the courts practically shut down for the summer they go insane.
Someone tell me their day was crappier - please?
Thank god I have some holiday time at the end of this month.
I'm hot and sweaty. From the temperature that is.
I need a good massage, amoung other things.
