It was amazing in 1962 for what it cost, and I'm not quite old enough to have been driving one then, but it's not a tour de force of engineering by our standards today. It was predictable enough to be fun to  drive and the tail end would slide at comfortingly low speeds so you could play Fangio or Jim Clark in relative safety. Visually it's a very successful design in its original incarnation and still looks great. Ah, nostalgia . . .
