Yes...that's right. I saw Fall Out Boy on Saturday night at Epicentre. For those of you who aren't familiar with Epicentre, its a 525 capacity venue, so the fact that Fall Out Boy played there is amazing. But this was no normal show. There were no advance ticket sales, unless you were lucky enough to win some from the fan club.
This was supposed to be somewhat of a secret show, until the shitty ass radio station Channel 933 and live nation had to stick their noses into it and start promoting it. i got an email a few weeks ago from live nation about that show....as if that was really necessary!!! like Fall Out Boy is going to have any problem selling out a 525 person venue? Anyway, I knew this was going to require some serious line waiting skills. My original plan, before everyone in San Diego knew about the show was to get there at 10am, but that was quickly abandoned. Then I thought about getting there at 8 am, then 6am...and I ended up getting in line at midnight. I went to a concert at Epicentre the night before, so technically I was there for 28 hours, but after the show I made a quick trip home for some supplies...I'm glad I did....it was 34 FUCKING DEGREES that night.
Throughout the night more and more people showed up then even more in the morning. The line ended up being crazy long. At least half of the people must have been turned away. Late in the day fucking Channel 933 showed up and started playing AWFUL music. And it wasn't even a variety, I swear it was the same 4 or 5 songs repeated for about an hour. Radio ftl (more on that in a little bit). One of the girls I was hanging out with in line was actually yelling at the 933 people to turn the music off lol. But anyway, after we suffered through that epic fail they call music, we got inside Epicentre and waited for the show to begin.
Now...remember I had been waiting outside for 19 hours. I started out with only 2 people in between me and the barricade. Then some how before the first band even started playing there were 6 or 7 people in between me and the barricade...But whatever, it was mostly shorter girls so I didn't mind THAT much. I fucking HATE people pushing at concerts, especially when they are pushing past people that were waiting for hours and hours more than them. People like that ruin the world. After 2 of the longest hours of my life, Fall Out Boy finally came on, and the assholes really came out of the woodwork. I guess they think "standing straight up ftl" or something along those lines. Also there was this major dickhead that yelled 'CALM BEFORE THE STORM!!!' after every song, and when Pete mentioned the new album the guy yelled 'FUCK THE NEW SHIT!!' I SOOO wanted to punch him in the throat. Why go to a fucking Fall Out Boy show if you only like one of their albums?
Let's talk about the actual performance though, shall we? It was probably one of the best shows, musically, I've ever been to. From what I could tell, Patrick's voice was spot on almost the entire show. And Patrick actually talked on stage, I've never seen that before. I'm sure it's happened, I've just never seen it. He was hilarious, him and Pete had a couple of conversations and told a few stories.
I was so glad they played Nobody Puts Baby In the Corner. That has been one of my favorite songs for years and I've never seen it played live. I was so excited! They also played Yule Shoot Your Eye Out...well Patrick did lol, another one of my favorite songs. Last year on The Young Wild Things Tour they played Nobody Puts Baby In the Corner acoustic, but since the show here was on December 1st they switched it for the more X-mas-y Yule Shoot Your Eye Out, which was AMAZING and disappointing at the same time lol. This time they also played Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On a Bad Bet off of the new album, which has become one of my favorite songs ever.
The set list was entirely too short though, they need to start playing longer sets now that they have 4 albums. And they only played 3 songs off of Folie a Deux

That's about all I can think of to talk about for right now. It was one hell of an amazing night. I hope they come back really soon.
Pix are up on TheSpace. There is no way I could possibly rate this any less than 5 out of 5 stars. So now I shall leave you with....
