So on the weekend I went to SOUNDWAVE and I must say it was the better choice between that and Big Day Out this year by far. This was probably the first time I went to a concert and did not mosh but that doesn't mean I wasn't close to the action. I was pretty much thorn between the 2 main stages for most of the day and with good reason, those bands fuckin rocked. I'll let it out now and say that [I thought] the best act was Dillinger Escape Plan. Sorry Nine Inch Nails, you were good/great/awesome but Dillinger just had the better show and I never heard or seen these guys before! I wasn't a fan of all the songs Dillinger played but they did have intoxicating atmosphere and energy that made watching them sensational. Next on the list is NIN and yes they were awesome. Shamefully I admit this was the first time I saw them live, I slowly grown into NIN over the years with my mate Josh spoon feeding me them whenever he has the opportunity, I'm still not a OMFG NIN fan but I do enjoy some of they're works - mainly the newer stuff from With Teeth onwards.
Billy Talent was a band anyone at the festival would have to be impotent to miss, they're energy and sound is in a class of they're own and was one of my main highlights if not my main highlight for the day. I can't describe how fucking spectacular these guys are live but I can tell you to not pass up the opportunity should they be in your vicinity. Not to go in great detail with the rest of the day but other bands I also watched/caught glimpses of were Moneen (great but sound was shit), Finch (never heard these guys but were ok), Goldfinger (not really into them and missed out 99 red balloons), Evergreen Tce (were a good show though only ever listened to they're covers album but they did play mad world) and a wee bit of Unearth (maybe I'm wrong but they seem to be the definition of redneck metal).
And thats my adventures of SOUNDWAVE. I didn't get any pics coz I didn't take my phone for fear of losing or breaking it and I didn't find my old phone to use as a replacement, so all I have a lovely memories
