After last night's predictable little rant about the new profile lay-out, I thought I'd dial it down a notch or two by sharing some fine music by the lovely Joan Wasser a.k.a. Joan As Police Woman.
I saw her twice this summer, once at the Pukkelpop festival and once in the Handelsbeurs in Ghent. The former was a show of the band, the latter a solo performance.
I bought the debut album Real Life shortly after it was released and appreciated it. However, it wasn't until I saw Joan perform the songs, that its true beauty was revealed to me. After the show, I heard the album with different ears. I love it when a concert is a gateway into another dimension like that.
And whereas it is first and foremost the music that appeals to me, I have to say I walked away a bit smitten after the Pukkelpop concert and didn't have to blink before ordering tickets when I found out she'd be playing in Ghent a couple of weeks later. She's such an endearing stage personality, it's inhuman not to want to cuddle her after she's told one of her confusing little anecdotes. And when she takes a sip from her tea, I even fancy having a cup with the woman. This coming from a total coffee person.
For those of you who prefer something a bit more up tempo, here's the latest single (about obsessive love):

P.S. I'm a cat person as opposed to a dog person, too. Don't know about Joan though.
