So, LA looks like nice place, and I might want to live there, at least for a while, but I have to get to know it a bit more before coming to a decision. Since I was visiting LA with family, I didn't really get to see much of the city proper. Most of the trip was spent at Huntington Beach where I had a room for most of the week. As a result, I can tell you the beaches there are beautiful, but not much else. Also, I had no idea how much a part of me missed the ocean until I was in its waters. It was rather proximate to how much I miss the mountains sometimes. (Why oh why, Chicago, do you have to be flat?) Either way, I was unfortunately not allowed to take surfing lessons. Apparently, you have to be adept at some obscure form of aquatic propulsion (read: swimming) before they let you do so. This was saddening, but understandable. I at least got closer to learning how to swim while there.
Also of note. I finally saw God Night and Good Luck. It is now among my favorite films. I have come to believe that history never really changes because people remain fundamentally the same. This film, with everything else it does well (Oh, God, the dialogue), provides a excellent example of why I believe this. It is sad and wonderful at the same time. You shouid watch it if you have not already.
