What a stupid night. I'd blame it on the full moon if there was one. Parades, gunfire, lost shoes, bad reservation taking by my boss (Thanks for that you twit!), drunks trying to swing from my horse's face.....

I'm going to bed.

I'm going to take a camper van full of my favourite people to play in the ocean on Sunday. There, now that feels...

I love living on the coast. I love that I was born on the coast. The smell of wet peat, and cedar boughs is home to me. I'm reminded of it by all the people who visit who have never even seen a bald eagle before. Their wonder keeps me appreciative of where I am. It's easy to sour in your hometown, but I meet...

Not where I was born and not where I live most of the time, but where my soul and uncle live all year round. (Chestermans Beach) Also it's where I'll end up when I get the guts to leave the mainland.

Not many know the local slang name. Are you local or an island hopper?
collapsingstar:
Lucky girl. Where are you gonna stay?

I'm really sick of horses today. Shame on me.

I'm going brown.

I'm going to tighten the trucks on my rollerskates now, and take out the recycling. Then I'm going to skate somewhere. To the peeler bar I think. I want to see some professional pussy.

MUAH. kiss

My job is like acting. It IS acting. I become the person my passengers want me to be. That is how I get tipped well. If they are bigots though, I draw the line at joining them. Actually I don't speak to bigots.

I had some awesome "living-large" people hire me for two hours last night. The two hours consisted of their drinking lots of...

Hey, thanks for the info on the WCT... Baker in Oct.? Hmm... I haven't heard any word on the conditions of the mountain this season, though, given our lack of snow and the timing, I'd venture it won't be the best climbing. Might be better if you could bump it up to Aug. or back into early winter if you really wanted to be adventurous... wink

My last post, by the way, was not a jab at American tourists, just the occasional pain-in-the-ass person in general.

Day after Canada day. I worked it. It is kind of fun driving through crowds of people with a charging, 2600 pound shire mare. Perverse, but fun. To not tempt fate too much, we shut down well before the fireworks. I wove through the melee...

Marry me?

It's odd... I work for an outfitter... a major one, at that... and it's hard for me to find a decent girl who knows what crampons are, let alone actually want to go hiking. wink

A very happy Solstice everyone. I hope it finds you well. Feast with your loved ones and take in as much daylight as possible. As of today, the Dark gets stronger again.

Today is rainy. It's a nice rain because it isn't cold. Being a tour guide in the rain sucks only because my people complain, and blame the rain on me. I tell them...

Yeah, I saw that you had a Bumbershoot pic up from last year (?) and figured you'd probably be making the venture down again. We'll have to go climb a mountain... or grab coffee, whichever works. wink

I'm becoming less and less politically correct in my old age.

Never apologize and never explain. If someone has a problem with something you cannot go back and change, but will never touch again, the weakness is not yours, but theirs.

Now this is just getting outrageous.

Did you hear about the guy who was stopped at the border yesterday? They confiscated a protractor, compass, calculator, and mechanical pencil.

Then they arrested him for possessing weapons of Math Instruction.

I'm surveying piping plovers in Alberta, near the sask border. We are also putting exclosures (metal cages essentially) over nests so coyotes, crows or other predators are less likely to gobble up the eggs.
Monitoring the adults, and young (chicks just started hatching this last trip out). That's what sort of surveying I get to do.

I used to only eat meat that was cooked black. Now I've discovered the joys of bloody flesh. We went for sushi last night at a place that serves venison tataki. What is that, you ask? It is deer meat that has been only briefly seared, cut thinly, and arranged in the most delicious ponzu-like sauce. Thin, bloody game meat is sexy food.

I finally...

I find it hard to believe MJ is innocent. I think the prosecution didn't do as good a job as his defense ... but there are only a few people who'd know for sure.....

So you had yourself an interesting weekend too huh? Awesome! biggrin

I've had beef tataki, but not venison - drooling to think about it though!
