The world is a scary place. The disasters seem to be getting more frequent. Natural disasters more and more severe. They are estimating thousands dead in New Orleans. The whole city is under water and the only thing you can see is the roofs of houses. The pictures of dead people and babies make me cry. It seems there should be something I can do, but unless you have money you feel helpless. Some of the surrounding cities, also under water, have yet to be seen. Disaster help hasn't even been able to get into them. News videos show police cheifs yelling to their subordinates "Don't waste your time with the bodies that are already dead, try to save the ones that are still alive!" A woman sits on a curb, her dead husband laying at her feet. The police tell her to move the body further away before it begins to stink. Hospitals have no power and no gas for there genorators. Survivors, adult and children, sit on their roofs hoping to be rescued before they die, no food and no water.
Nagin (New Orleans Mayor) said "80 percent of the city was under water, which was 20 feet deep in some places."
"There are dead bodies floating in some of the water," Nagin said. "The rescuers would basically push them aside as they were trying to save individuals."
"New Orleans was left with no power, no drinking water, dwindling food supplies, widespread looting, smoke rising on the horizon and the sounds of gunfire."
As I sit here writing this, the news is on in the background, talking of another tropical storm developing and moving this way...

and then people have to try to take advantage of this for personal gain meanwhile not enough of us can afford to send money to help...
and while i know it is important for the news to report this story, the fact that they will stick cameras in the faces of people in shock over the death of loved ones and then put it up on national tv to steal a few ratings points from a competing tv news network at the expense of humanity and people's dignity in the face of tragedy really makes even iller...no one in that situation can truly give informed consent to be the main headline, and then all too quickly they are thrown away for the latest horrific sight....
all in all this just a big ;_;
