Here we go again. Every so often a bunch of cool people feel they have to leave the site. Time passes, and they either are forgotten or come back. And a new crop of cool people step up to take their place. Same old same old, I guess.

p.s. GH II is quite tasty
p.p.s. had you seen The Departed in the theaters prior to getting the blu-ray? I loved the flick and saw it twice in the theaters before buying it.
p.p.s. How many blue-ray flicks do you have?
p.p.p.s Have you heard about the new Resistance maps and features coming soon?
SCEA and Insomniac have detailed a pair of forthcoming Resistance updates in a press release today. On March 23, coinciding with PlayStation 3's European launch, the first update will introduce two new multiplayer modes, Team Conversion (Conversion with teams) and Assault (destroy the defending team's base). In addition, a 'spectator camera' will be added, allowing voyeurs to peep the action from players' perspectives or pan back and discover their own angles. Insomniac has also tweaked matchmaking optimization for the update and will re-introduce the old radar as a custom option.
In May, a second update will enable global competition and offer two new multiplayer maps for purchase. The maps are apparently an extension of the game's backstory; a full explanation is scheduled to appear on the official website closer to the update's release. Anyone paying attention to Phil Harrison last week, will recall that the Sony exec blabbed that Insomniac would be "extending the story"; we speculated that this might entail episodic content. While that remains a distant possibility, it appears that the referenced 'extension' will simply be a lame presentation on the Resistance website. Cheers for keeping Resistance fresh, but let's not disguise this update as anything other than what it is: a standard dose of premium multiplayer maps.
p.p..p.p.s. Have you heard the rumors about what Harrison is announcing for the PS3 this week, and what the march 8th firmware update will offer? Mind you these are just rumors but it sounds oh, so damn exciting
Phil hasn't given his speech fo' realz yet, but someone got a hold of a copy of it, or listened in on a rehearsal (do you think they have rehearsals or just wing it?) or something and have compiled a list of key... notes about the speech. Here's what's important:
* March 8th is the big firmware update. It includes:
o More refined PS Store frontend
o PlayStation Network "integrity enhanced"
o Wallpapers from pictures
o Ability to change background colors
o Sony Connect Store for music and movies added to the PS Store. Hundreds of trailers/full films/songs
o Videos and mp3's available for download.
o Playstation Card option in PS Store enabled.
o Playstation Lifestyle- Similar to my space/youtube. User generated content and experiences are the key.
o + more.
* Removal of Emotion Engine chips will come stateside and to Japan in April. Upscales certain PS-One and PS2 games to 720p/1080i.
* Game announcements: Warhawk in June/July, Heavenly Sword delayed, Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 in late 2007.
* New PS-Store stuff being added on the 8th include:
o Tekken 6 trailer
o Lair demo & (new?) trailer
o Rainbow Six Vegas demo
o EA: Skate trailer
o Battlefield Bad Company trailer
o Warhawk demo
o Virtua Fighter 5 demo
o Virtua Tennis 3 demo & trailer
o GRAW 2: trailer
o Mortal Kombat 2 game
o Killzone 2 trailer... demo to come in May
May we just say one thing? "Superfantabulous!" Sounds like a kickin' keynote address, except for the Heavenly Sword being delayed thing. But that's so all the first-party and semi-first-party games get their own time to shine instead of competing with one another. What do you guys think? Badass or assbad?
Rumor has it a new issue of that is coming out this year!
