Had to laugh out loud while watching this video! My nephew stealing his own bike:
Have been pretty busy lately. I started working again since two months after a 2 year break. I work as a pedagogic worker in afterschool care, something I did before. I really had to get used to working again and had some trobleswith finding my place in the team I'm working with, but things are fine now. I love working with kids.
I am following a procedure to get dispensation for classes for the study Social Pedagogic Work, based on former work experience and former education, and today I had an assesment for it. The interview went well I think. In a month I will hear when I can start classes and what classes still need to do. I quit psychology 2 years ago because I coulnd't find the motivation for it anymore. To just read books and not being able to work in the field is not the way that I learn best, so I'm choosing for a more practical study now. I want to start studying early next year, but because I want to study parttime I first need to find a relevant job (child care isn't relevant). So finding an other job is something I'm also working on!
An other thing I'm busy with is finding a place to live. I live in a student apartment now, but want something where me and my boy both can live. Amsterdam is not the easiest place to find a house though if you don't have a lot of money to spend..... We are searching for about 6 months now and still have nothing! Gggrrrr!
Last tuesday I went to the gym for the first time since a couple of years and it felt really good!!! I missed working out but had other priorities and for a while I was too depressed for it. It helps that I have a goal now, because Sam asked me to marry him!!!! We don't have a date yet because we first want to find a place to live and need some time to save money for the wedding. A friend of us took a beautiful pic which we gave our parents when we told them the news:
That's it for now!

I'd never be happy just studying and reading, without being able to work in the field I'm studying. I have enjoyed teaching toddler and preschool in the past, but I'm ready to get away from child care, and into public schools. I am studying to become a teacher for infants through grade 3. I am also studying human ecology...basically, how the environment and an individual's development are interrelated and interdependent, based on the Ecological Systems Theory by bronfenbrenner. It's interesting stuff, especially for one studying education and pedagogy. I'm also interested in Early Childhood Special Ed. My college has special ed for the elementary and secondary years, but for some reason, Special Ed is not a choice. I think that's unfortunate for those of us who want to teach younger children who may also have special needs. I'd like to know why there are no public special ed programs for young children, just private schools that are not free. We need to work on that.
Anyway, I've been ranting. Best to you in your engagement, finding a home for the two of you, and planning the big day! And best to you in your educational/work endeavors.
