It's been quite a while since I've updated, and judging by my last post that's probably a good thing. I've been in quite the funk for the last little while.

Both my roomates left for Afghanistan yesterday. I hope they stay safe.

I'm still in Shilo. Not really my first choice, but I should be back on the west coast within 2 years os that's...

Well it was a long, mostly pointless venture into northern Alberta, and soon I'll get to do it again. It really feels that most of my time in the Army is spent as a trainig dummy for a bunch of officers. Not that it was a total loss. I have to say that I do really enjoy my job when I'm doing what I'm trained...

Cool, hope you get some nice chilled downtime. How's our forces doing anyhow - its weird that us civs get no real info about our own forces.

Shit, I can't imagine doing training excersises with a fresh 'too - it is a freaking open wound afterall - guess your pal gave the medics some practise anyhow huh wink Take care.

Gone to Wainwright. Be back in a month.

I hear ya, I found an old box of these cool railroad explosives when I was a kid. Me and a friend spent weeks using them to fall full grown trees out in the woods biggrin We'd drill into the tree, shove these little things that were like packets of something? then plug the hole with a rock, light the det cord and run like hell biggrin biggrin

Still, nothing like the real thing. Play safe though - all this war stuff is kinda scary shit wink

So after an extended period of recovery, I am now back to doing my job. Over the last couple of weeks we've been on a training exercise. The week after next we start a month long exercise, and come come November I'll either be on another month long ex. or training to ship out to Afghanistan. shocked

The pace is pretty hectic, but I'll take it...

Well, after a long day at work (07:00 - 22:00) and a lot of time freezing my ass off in the wind and rain, I've decided I really like being a soldier. biggrin The downside (because there is always a downside) means that I have to stay in this shitty little town. Shitty, I guess I still have a lot to thing about.

Positivity be damned! This town sucks.
I've been in Manitoba for almost two years now and I've had enough. I spent three hours last night trying to find something to do on the long weekend and the nearest event I find even remotely interesting is a DnB show in Minneapolis. Probably not worth the 11 hour drive. Anyone in the Winnipeg area know of anything...

Back on the West Coast. biggrin

I've been doing a lot of riding since I started my vacation, and I'm really wondering why I thought that I could give it up.

Now I think it's time for some serious soul searching,

Damn!
h2o:
Sorry dude, I'm working like triple time these days and the bike is getting pissed!! Glad to hear you're getting some good rides in - keep in touch.
h2o:
Good to see you're back, sorry we couldn't hook up for a ride when you were out this way.

I've discoverd today that I like the way my grey hair makes me look. Probably a good thing since I seem to be making more and more of it these days.

Counting down the days till I go back to Vancouver. I think if I work it right I can weasle out of work early next Thursday and make it to Medicine Hat before dark. That'll get me to Vancouver in time for Canada day. biggrin

I fried the power supply in my CarPC yesterday. Stupid mistake that could have totally been avoided, but sometimes you have...
