Hey All.
I got a few notes commenting on the brevity of my last blog, so I'm going to start this series with a more in depth recount of my adventure.
The Drive There.
We started about 11am Pacific time, leaving from savanna's house with the car fully packed. In about 30 Minutes we were in Novato. I couldn't figure out if I'd passed the exit i needed to start the trek east, so I called who else but my mom, asking where the exit was because "Savanna and I are going to Marine World."
For those not in the Know, The whole thing was meant to surprise my parents, so I couldn't drop the ball there, but there was no one I knew who would have the answer on the top of their head.
She knew it, we kept driving, and In 90 minutes we were in Sacramento.
I bought 3 dollar sunglasses which lasted me the whole drive there, then broke during the stay. Who can bitch, they were three dollar shades.
It was four more hours or so (i think) to Reno, NV. This was quite a shock since, so far, everything had been the up and over of the Sierra Nevadas.
Alright, let's roll back a bit. The Sierras were great. The Air was crisp, the terrain was rugged and expansive, and the traffic was light. I loved it, and look forward to returning
We stopped at a rest stop near the apex of the range. Donner Pass. It was beautiful, and it was the first non-city stop we made. Again, really fun, and a good photo opportunity. We took quite a few pics up here
After that it was down the mountain and In to Reno, our first big city stop. The city has a very visible distinction between glitzy tourist town and run down residential. Here's a sample of the glitzy side
We rolled on to Elko and parts beyond, but there's plenty more to come later. This is simply the first installment to tide you over.
At the moment, we're in the middle of Iowa on the way home to california. Just taking the opportunity to blog for a minute.
