So, this is sad. We get a babysitter at the last minute, and can't think of anything to do. confused

So I took your advice, although on a smaller scale. A nice long bath and a good book work wonders.

What's what you get for staying home?

I thought I hated moving before. However, now that I've tried packing up most of my life with a baby in tow, I realize that I was just a piker.

Sigh. More boxes to fill.
melladoree:
where are you moving to sweets?

I now I heard a few things here and there from Jim BUT I have not seen him in a while!

We spent the weekend in Portland with my famly. UMM, four tense people and a screaming toddler smushed into a Honda Civic.

I've forgotten how much I dislike being cold and wet.

Last night, bourbon and wild cherry pepsi, amusement park rides, dinner, and then Bar Sinister with bean and shalome. A very satisfying date evening.

Note: Before riding the fiberglass burro, read all posted signs.
chris_sick:
those signs sure seem important.

probably even more so after bourbon and pepsi, i'd imagine.

you have a really great alias.

I've been in sort of a featureless funk off and on lately, so expect no clever update here.

I do need new shoes. Come to think of it--

I REALLY NEED NEW SHOES!

preferably comfy cute ones

If you see any, send 'em my way.

So, is it kind of sick and wrong that I am deeply excited I ordered a "smartwrap" today, and soon my shuffle headphones will be tangle-free?

You know, sometimes you just don't know yourself as well as you thought.

Life's good that way.

How was Mardi Gras?

We're back!

In other news, my husband is shiftlessly fleeing responsibility and going to Mardi Gras.

Anyone want to keep a lady and a baby company?

Thank you for your prayers. The bags arrived safely and we are now clean and clothed.

In other matters:

I find it incredibly depressing to go to an estate sale, and find myself in a house that was clearly running down a long time, is mildewed and cold, and yet the tatty bits left from the lives of the people who until recently lived there...

On one hand, I share your frustration with those people's preoccupation with the trinkets and the temporary. On the other hand, I grew up in Orange, CA, home of the Old Town Preservation Association, an organization well-intentioned, but brainless in practice. Case in point: a man who was an expert on historical architecture had bought a house in old town, and was planning to replace the patio. His plans had to be approved by the OTPA, and they declined it, saying he'd be ruining the historic patio. They relented, however, when he pointed out that the patio he was replacing it with was actually more historically accurate according to the style of architecture and period the house was built.

Don't mind me, though, I just like being the person to point out the exception to the rule. smile

That...and I fucking hate Orange.

In Little Rock, unwashed, and without any clothes to change into. And a baby who has been wearing the same clothes for the last 24 hours too.

Dirt, cranky baby, and a lack of outfits. Not my favorite things.

Could we all pray to the luggage gods to get me my bag SOON?

shal:
*prays to luggage gods*

Are there really gods of such things?

As for the special server slave-bitch outfit, I didn't see it listed in the job perks, but I'll make sure to find out.

So. This morning on the way to work I decided to mark the occasion of our 16th anniversary this Friday with a list of things I miss about being 17. In all fairness, this should be followed by a list of things I think are better about 33, but, you know, I may be too lazy to write one.

1. Glorious tumult.
2. Boys who...

There's a thread on the boards about flappers, and someone mentioned Louise Brooks. I never realized just how much you resemble the lovely Ms. Brooks -- and not just the haircut. smile
