Writing this has led me to the conclusion that I am mean-spirited. But I'm posting it anyway.

As you probably know, if you know me, I work as an art model and am a member of a sort of models' union that sets our rates, finds us jobs, etc. The organization keeps a list of working models: our names, basic stats, and a list of...

My wife doesn't REALLY hate fun. smile

We're both just pretty shy and reserved - so we don't often LOOK like we're having fun, even when we are. But she was CLEARLY having fun that night. smile

This is very long. Only read it if you're super bored.

I think there's a fine line between karma and coincidence. When we meet someone who, for example, shares our birthday, we are eager to ascribe it some greater significance than it might deserve: "Oh, you're an only child, too? Crazy!" "You love banana ice cream as much as I do? It must be fate!"...

I called you today, around 3:30, but you didn't answer and I didn't leave a message. Maybe next week.

Seeing as it's been nine months since a real journal, here's a quick update:

I switched programs and am now about a year short of graduating with an MA in Creative Writing and a Certificate in Teaching Composition from SFSU.

I was awarded a fellowship for general awesomeness (yep, that's me).

I won second place in a dramatic monologue contests and got to hear my...

Awesome. Okay, the bakery one (on Guerrero at 18th) at 1pm Thursday works great for me.

And yeah, I have no idea how to buy tickets in advance either. Hmmm. I will ask around, because I think I know people who have been to Sister Spit before.

update: I swear, sushi is the only thing I am powerless to. Why must you tempt me so, SGSF?

Arighty kids, England's out and, uh, so'm I. I've been gearing up to be done with SG for awhile now and I think I'm finally there. I've got this here MySpace account (unattractive but quite handy dandy) if you feel like saying hey. It'd be awful...

I so love the sushi.
It is sad to think that I lived in Seattle and never had a bite, came back to MPLS and fell in love.

your paintings look amazing in my new house. brown cloud is in the living room and towers is in the hall (leaning up against the wall on your table!)

so much better than hiding upstairs in a corner where no one can see them! (well.. brown cloud was anyways!)

I've been granted California residency! This will save me, oh, round about $6k a year for the next three or four years (by which point I hope to have two graduate degrees and a teaching certificate and am pretty sure I will be done with school for a good long time).

It also means I need to prepare myself for the reality of going back...

kenyon:
congrats back at you! CA residency comes with all sorts of perks, rock on.

sigh. i miss school.

and yes, the sea of hip little memoirs is can be daunting and flat-out discouraging, i find. i've considered trying my hand at one many times, but i always come back to poems, which will never be hip (and which will never sell!). but they endure. wink

Why the fuck are they showing me a video of people in a bar watching the game instead of fucking SHOWING ME THE GAME????

I don't want cable I don't want cable I don't want cable.

I just don't want to be American, either.

I'm not sure if watching people watch the game is better or worse than me just watching the stats sheets "live" on my google home page. I so want ESPN right now...but only ESPN.

Conclusion:

Canned Indian food from Rainbow Grocery is superior to canned Indian food from Bombay Grocery. Even if it does cost 50 cents more. My tastebuds deserve it.

Ugh, my father simply does not have a clue.

A month or two ago he was telling me about how he had a crush on his psychiatrist ("She's really my ideal woman. Intelligent, Swedish. I mean, I loved your mother, of course, but I really have a thing about Swedish women.") and he knew she liked him back so he asked her on a date....
