"WOW. You guys are alright by us. This weekend, through the paypal account and the donations jar we set up at the door, we made a few hundred dollars to help our tax situation.
Unfortunately, it's not nearly enough to cover the costs. We're still being charged $6000 by the state of Alabama, and so we need every dime we can get, in order to not face some serious problems. Anything you can donate would be extremely helpful. You can donate at any of the shows we've got coming up this week (and there are some really choice shows this week - Ed Gein/Heavy Heavy Low Low on Thursday, Ackleys CD Release on Friday, Brothers and Sisters on Saturday - don't miss out!), or you can donate via paypal, to the user account: cave9rock@aol.com. Everything helps, and it's impossible for us to adequately express how much we appreciate each and every one of your donations. And, you can write them off on your taxes! We're non-profit, remember?
If you haven't heard about the situation we're facing, please read below:
As most of you know, Cave9 recently became recognized as a nonprofit organization with the federal government. Unfortunately, the state of Alabama still believes that everything we do is taxable and recently audited us. They charged us with $6,000 of back taxes which are due by September 30*. We hate just outright asking for money, but we're short of ideas here. Anything you could donate would be greatly appreciated (and a tax write off!). At each show we will have a donation bucket by the door and we also have a paypal account. Those of you who live in Birmingham know that this venue has byfar been the best all ages venue we've ever had. Let's join together and help keep it going!
love,
Cave9

*if we don't have the money by September 30 we won't get shut down, we'll just have to pay them in payments and end up paying more."
