Anne sold her house before the flood. Her writings were another aspect of the ambience to New Orleans. The Serpent and the Rainbow is something wicked to read. There is a movie available. I don't know if voodoo has similair interest to you as vampires.

The Vampire Lestat is cool, I also liked Pandora a lot. Queen of the damned is nice, too...But Memnoch the devil isn't...it's just so goddam boring, I never read it to the end.
