This is so awesome. I wrote my favorite rapper yesterday and told him my story and informed him of my WALKAIDE fundraiser. He was awesome enough to post my story on his page and give me a little shout out. His kindness and dedication to his fans shows me that celebrities care about their fans just as much as they do their art. I am truly touched. Show him some love for his awesomeness. I will post below what I wrote to him. Feel free to check out my fundraiser as well. Hopefully, by the end of Summer I will get some mobility back...Much love!
My letter to Mc Chris:
Hey, MC. I'm a huge fan. My name is Virginia. Although, my friends call me "Jenny." I am 31 years old. I live in Ansted, WV and I am disabled. I was born with Cerebral Palsy. Due to my disability, I use a wheelchair. I do not let my disability define me however, or stop me from achieving my goals. I have a Regents Bachelors of Arts from West Virginia State University. I am a self-published author of poetry. I am a patient advocate for Easter Seals Foundation who is currently advocating for the creation of a more diverse Barbie doll, especially one that more accurately depicts those individuals who are part of the disabled community. it is my ultimate goal to become a college professor. I hope someday I am able to make an impact on someone's life, whether it be hands on with teaching or through inspiration due in part to my writing.
On a personal level, I am also a stepmother to a six year old named Brandon who is just now getting used to the trials and tribulations that come with being a Kindergartener. His father and I have been in a relationship for almost three years now. We are quite busy at the moment, as we are getting ready to start the process of buying our first home together. In the meantime, we live with my boyfriend's parents and two siblings. The house is quite cramped I must say, as we also have 20 cats and one dog named Bandit.
In my spare time I am a complete geek in all sense of the word. I enjoy anime, comics, and concerts. I enjoy these things so much it is very common for me to travel to different cities just to attend a show or convention. To add to my geek status I have a tattoo on my upper left arm of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. To most it is a pretty boring concept, but I think it pretty much sums me up as a person. In other words, I guess you can say with me around there is never a dull moment.
Why am I writing you I ask? Well, like yourself I have a dream. Much different from yours however, mine involves having the ability to do something most people take for granted. I would love to be able to walk outside and play with my stepson. I would like to take a stroll and hold hands with my fianc. I want to have the chance to WALK! How can you help with this you ask? Well, the answer is simple.
There is this new assistive device for Cerebral Palsy patients who experience drop foot like myself called "WALKAIDE." This is great news. I immediately called my doctor and the company where I get my orthotic equipment hoping to get one. However, as usual my insurance will not pay for it. It costs $4000 dollars. Having this would improve my walking ability immensely. I have been confined to a wheelchair for three years now. Walking again would be a dream come true. Help me make this dream a reality. How can you do this you ask?
Well, simply advertise my gofundme fundraising page I set up in an effort to help me raise the money to purchase the device out of pocket. I expect no donation just simple word of mouth. The link to the page can be found at:
Help Me Walk Independently
If you do this for me, then I will donate $30 to your kickstarter page. I hope you will help me dude...my wheelchair's got jets..haha..fetts vett..is one of my fav's..Anyhow, I wish you well....feel free to leave me a message on Facebook too. That would be super cool. Peace!
Yes, I did my part and donated the $30 dollars to MC Chris' kickstarter. Feel free to give the man some props on his Facebook page and I would appreciate if you supported my fundraiser as well. Spreading the word and prayers are equally appreciated...
Until Next Time,
Jen
