thought i'd update before i get the usual complaint from volkov, something along the lines of "you're not updating because you want to show off how many responses you got!"
actually, he's too busy for serious SG time these days...the kid's being sent to iraq. if you visit his journal not having known this little tidbit before, go say meaningful shit, not stupid shit.
what?
had 3 performances this week of a children's opera which was written in Therezienstadt, which was the concentration camp for people in the arts. one of the 2 survivors who acted in the first productions was there, and she spoke. profoundly moving, and i am not often profoundly moved (including when we took the cast [7th/8th graders] to the museum of jewish heritage last week to view the holocaust exhibit. seeing pictures and quotes only affect me so much, but hearing her talk about it was more powerful even than hearing my grandmother talk about when she was alive. she was not in a camp, but lost both parents and a sister to the gas chambers.
wow, solemn entry, didn't mean it to be like this.
my next performance: may 9, 8pm. it's a classical voice recital with a soprano and i. the music is really, really hard and it might be a good chance to see me fuck up on stage! anyone interested, email me. non-creepy people only, please.
gonna try and go back to sleep now.
morning, kids.
